FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why choose a Cwtch & Cherish Memory Bear?
Cwtch and Cherish Keepsakes is a small home-based business and I make each and every memory bear myself so you may have to wait a little while before you receive your very own keepsake memory bear. No work is undertaken by a third party and I can therefore guarantee consistency of the high standard of workmanship I have become recognised for since commencing in 2012. A selection of my Testimonials are also available within this website showing what my previous customers have thought about their finished memory bear, and my social media pages are also updated monthly with my most current work.
I recraft your cherished clothing, full of memories, into a keepsake memory bear within my dedicated Craft Room. I take great pride in meticulously designing, cutting, sewing and assembly each keepsake to capture your memories as you have requested and feel privileged that so many customers entrust me to do so, year after year, some of whom have returned for further bears.
What type of clothing may be used for a Memory Bear?
- The ideal clothing for my memory bears is cotton jersey fabric from clothing such as babygrows and t-shirts, fleece, velour and faux fur is also good.
- Items of clothing that are NOT suitable include loose knit items, thickly padded items, fine/delicate materials.
- Clothing should be clean but does not need to be ironed.
- As most clothing has been worn and loved, it is inevitable that some may have stains. Please highlight these at the time of ordering and whether or not you mind if the stains are visible on the keepsake.
How many items of clothing are required to make a Memory Bear?
Guidance is offered below for the amount of clothing required to make one memory bear. Baby clothing refers to clothing such as long-sleeved babygrows so if you send smaller items such as vests or t-shirts please add an extra 2 items. Clothing may be a mixture of sizes but in these cases please contact me to clarify how many items are required.
8-9 items of small baby clothing (size 3-6 months)
4-5 items of large baby clothing (size 6-12 months)
2-3 items of toddler or adult clothing (depending on sizes, adding more items often gives a little more interest)
Can I include all detail from the clothing?
All Cwtch & Cherish Keepsake Memory bears are custom-made and uniquely personal to each customer. Customers are invited to specify which details on their clothing they wish to be included, or not included, at the time of ordering. If no specific requests are made, I will use my own judgement and experience with the clothing provided to ensure the best result is achieved. However it is not always possible to embrace every detail from the clothing in which case I will highlight this before work commences.
Are you able to personalise Memory Bears?
Yes, all my keepsake memory bears may be personalised with machine embroidery on the foot pads. Details of the personalisation are required at the time of order. Please note that the memory bears are equally as beautiful with or without personalisation and it is not an essential requirement.
What size are your Memory Bears?
I only offer one size of memory bear. Each bear measures approximately 45cm / 18″ tall when standing though they are designed to be displayed sitting down.

Collection in person from Cardiff is also possible. Alternative postage & packaging options are available for orders outside of the UK so please contact me if this applies to you.

Can your Memory Bears be used as toys by children?
No, definitely not. All memory bears made by Cwtch and Cherish Keepsakes are designed and intended as decorative keepsakes only. They are not suitable for children under 14 years of age and are not designed or intended as toys. They will not withstand day-to-day handling due to being handmade with a mixture of different quality and types of fabric. They have not and cannot be CE tested as they are made from a mixture of fabrics supplied by customers. Fire retardant polyester toy stuffing and safety eyes, which comply with relevant British Safety Standards, are used in all memory bears produced. Buttons are used for jointing arms and legs, and small details are hand sewn to bears, both of which could become loose and constitute a choking hazard for babies and children, if used for any other purpose than a decorative keepsake. Cwtch and Cherish Keepsakes does not accept responsibility for any damage caused to any keepsake memory bear by failing to comply with this guidance. Please take time to consider this guidance before ordering your memory bear
